Why the paid plan exists
You are paying for rules that are current, not for permission to scan
Store review policies change several times a year and enforcement shifts monthly. Statutes are amended, adequacy decisions are challenged, and the rules that encode them are corrected as their authors learn more. A rule set from eight months ago will miss the reason your build gets rejected today.
So the free tier is not a crippled version. It is the complete product with the rules you installed, frozen at that version. Pro keeps them moving, and adds every jurisdiction rather than one.
Each framework records the date its rules were last checked against the text they encode, and the app tells you how far behind you are. You will always know which of the two you are running.

What you are not signing up for
No scan limits, ever
The product's whole loop is scan, fix, scan again. Charging per scan would tax the exact behaviour it exists to encourage, so it does not.
No project size limit
Scanning runs on your machine using your CPU. There is no server-side cost for us to meter, so there is nothing to cap.
Your code is not part of the deal
It is never transmitted, on any plan. There is no version of this product where we hold a copy of what you scan.
Cancelling does not break your installs
Rules already on your machine keep working. They stop receiving updates — that is the whole difference.
